Chris Marentis is the Founder and CEO of GenNext Media LLC and the author of Surefire Social and Disrupted. With nearly three decades of experience in media, marketing, and technology, Chris has a proven track record building businesses in turnaround, start-up and high growth situations. He has successfully created and implemented strategic plans, forged high-level strategic relationships and bridged marketing and media solutions with cutting-edge technology for Fortune 500 companies in both traditional and Interactive media.

Chris is the former CEO of Clearspring Technologies, one of the most widely adopted venture-backed Web 2.0 technology platform companies in the world. During the Web 1.0 boom, Chris led the industry as Senior Vice President of America Online’s (AOL) Interactive Marketing group. Working with some of the world’s most progressive and successful companies, Chris and the AOL interactive marketing team created the blueprint for online marketing, ecommerce and content branding in the new medium.

Chris is a serial entrepreneur successfully leading four early stage marketing and media technology companies raising over $20 million in capital.  He is currently an active investor and board member of Innovative Energy Group and investor in Clearspring Technologies.

Chris experience the last 27 years working with the newest marketing technologies with the largest media and ecommerce brands in the world provides a unique perspective on “the new normal” marketing paradigm. Years of hands on experience using powerful, low-cost technologies (including web services, cloud computing, semantic web and AJAX)—combined with new techniques like crowd sourcing, viral marketing, social media, educational marketing and search engine marketing—have provided unique insights into the future of media and marketing.
